OLDHAM KRAMER’S NEW HIRES EXPAND PRACTICE TO INCLUDE WORKERS’ COMP LAW

Firm welcomes first female partner and new associate

(AKRON, Ohio) Sept. 25, 2009 – Oldham Kramer is welcoming a new partner, Barbara A. Knapic, and a new associate, Denise Gary. Together, they will form the firm’s new employer’s workers’ compensation practice group.

Knapic is well respected throughout the state for her work in workers’ compensation law. She is a Certified Workers’ Compensation Specialist from the Ohio Bar Association, a former public member and chairperson of the Ohio Industrial Commission, and former chairperson of the Self-Insured Employers Evaluation Board.

Her honors include being listed among The Best Lawyers in America®, recognition as one of Ohio’s Super Lawyers™ and receiving a Martindale-Hubbell Rating of AV, which indicates very high to pre-eminent legal ability and very high ethical standards as established by confidential opinions from the members of the Bar.

Knapic becomes Oldham Kramer’s first female partner.

“Adding this practice group allows us to bring new clients to the firm and enables us to offer a new service to our current clients,” says managing partner Reg Kramer. “Barb is one of the top lawyers in the state for workers’ compensation law, and her team adds a new dimension to our firm.”

”I approach worker’s compensation matters from several perspectives on behalf of employers,” says Knapic. “I review the claims and cases from a legal defense standpoint, while also looking at the overall impact on the client’s economic situation and its relationships with its workforce.  I’m excited about setting up a new workers’ comp practice group at Oldham Kramer and about the new opportunities it will bring.”

Denise Gary has spent the bulk of her career representing self-insured and state-funded employers in all aspects of workers’ compensation law. She served as a magistrate for the Stark County Court of Common Pleas from 1998 to 2001.

Both most recently served in the Canton office of Buckingham Doolittle & Burroughs.

Founded in 1994, Oldham Kramer is a full-service law firm that focuses on business and employment law, complex litigation, real estate, insurance law and defense, and estate planning and probate. The office is located at 195 South Main Street in downtown Akron.
